Hublot has just unveiled a limited edition Big Bang watch dedicated to famous martial artist and movie star, Jet Li. This comes a year after announcing Jet Li as a new brand ambassador at the opening of Hublot’s flagship store in Beijing, China in December 2010. Jet Li is Hublot’s first ambassador in Asia and is part on the brand’s fast expansion in the region. With four boutiques now in China, Hublot has released a King Power F1 Monza watch for the Shanghai Grand Prix and just recently their first Ferrari Big Bang, to celebrate Ferrari’s 20th anniversary in China.
To celebrate, a grand launch ceremony was held, featuring a performance of one hundred Tai Chi performers. This showcase of Chinese culture was in-part to support the One Foundation, which partial proceeds of Jet Li’s Big Bang will go to support. The One Foundation mission is to promote and preserve China’s culture, while supporting children in rural China with the facilities and equipment to do so.
Jet Li’s Big Bang will feature Chinese elements selected by Jet Li himself and will be limited to 200 pieces worldwide. The 44mm is forged from micro-blasted black ceramic, giving it’s matte finish, with parts made with black composite and PVD steel. The skeletal dial is covered with a Chinese screen decoration in matte black. The China’s symbolic red is used for the details on the dial and chronograph and red tinted sapphire, also seen on the Shanghai King Power F1 Monza and the Ferrari Big Bang. Red SuperLuminova ruthenium coating is used to illuminate the dark dial in the low light. The micro-blasted ceramic case-back displays a crystal Ying-Yang symbol and Jet Li’s signature. The strap is either in black rubber or black gummy alligator strap with red detailing shown here.
UPDATE: Luxury Bazaar now sells Hublot’s Jet Li Big Bang watch.
