Keeping Your Luxury Investments Safe And Sound At Home

After working hard week in and week out, most of us can justify a little luxury in our lives. For everyone, it’s different; for some it’s a nice dinner out, or a weekly manicure, while others would rather purchase fashionable clothes and jewelry. Pe

rsonally, I usually choose the latter. But, how can we keep those investments safe? Fortunately, there are many home safety options to choose from including hidden safes and vaults, costume jewelry, and security systems.

Hidden Safe/Vault

A well-disguised safe can certainly make a difference if your home was ever burglarized. There are many different models available on websites like Amazon, ranging from wall clocks, to air vents to electrical outlets. The exterior is disguised to look like a common item, but it secretly opens to reveal an interior safe where you can hide jewelry, money, heirlooms, and more. There’s even one safe disguised to look like an ordinary candle! Since most burglars do not want to spend an extended amount of time in a home, they could not possibly check every electrical outlet or air vent to see if they are disguised safes. Most of these options are inexpensive and make a great investment if you are ever burglarized.

Costume Jewelry

Another way to fool a burglar to use costume jewelry as a decoy. Hide some inexpensive pieces you find in a jewelry box in your bedroom and place your true pieces of jewelry in a protected safe. Burglars do not have the time to examine your jewelry and ensure that it is genuine before taking it; they need to get in, get out and get on their way in fear of being caught. Once they think they have found everything of value, they’ll usually leave. Your real jewelry, meanwhile, will be kept safe in your hidden place.

Security System

One of the best and most secure ways to protect your jewelry investments – and your home in general – is with a security alarm. There are many options available on the market, so make sure you do your research and choose the best option for your home. Systems are either wireless or hard-wired and can include mobile features for remote control, as well as optional cameras with live feeds. A blaring alarm siren will alert a burglar that they have been detected and that the authorities are on their way.

No matter which option you choose for protection, whether it’s one or all three, the peace of mind it brings will be well worth it!
