Was just catching up on some new episodes of Mad Men last night and spotted a classy new wristwatch on the wrist of Don Draper. Many fans of Mad Men enjoy the aesthetic, fashion and style of the show, which have created an retro influence in today’s fashion. And for any luxury watch fans, the timepieces found on any character’s wrist often grabs your attention. While main character Don Draper is often seen sporting the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, a timeless dress watch and on occasion a Rolex Explorer, a new watch to Draper’s wrist (as far as I know) appeared in episode 6 of the latest season: A vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille.
Dating back to the 1960s, this timepiece was prior to Omega creating a actual dive watch under the Seamaster name. In the following years a separate DeVille collection was made for the dressier designs, with the Seamaster name appropriately taken by their then-new dive watches. The Seamaster DeVille seen on Don Draper’s wrist is dressed in black-on-black on a clean f ace, with only a small date display. The steel or silver case is most likely is a in the mid-30 millimeter size, the standard for the time and small by today’s standards.
